At East Bentleigh Health Group, we offer our patients a range of health services under one roof. Mary Philippou is a vascular sonographer and the director of NuWave Vascular Ultrasound, which is located within our offices.
What Is It?
Vascular sonography (or ultrasound) provides a variety of vascular diagnostic services that deliver precise clinical information for doctors and other practitioners. This safe, non-invasive form of imaging does not utilise radiation.
Specialist sonographers who are trained to detect vascular pathology perform all tests and work alongside vascular surgeons and other practitioners.
Services
Doctors send patients to NuWave because we offer accurate imaging and fast turnaround, and all tests are bulk-billed with a valid Medicare card. All imaging is performed by accredited vascular sonographers, and all of our results are overseen by vascular surgeons.

- Cerebrovascular / Carotid and Vertebral Artery Assessment
- Arterial and Venous Abdominal Studies
- Venous and Arterial Lower Limb Assessment
- Venous and Arterial Upper and Lower Limb Assessment
- Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI), Toe-Brachial Index (TBI) and Finger-Brachial Index (FBI)
- Wound / Ulceration Assessment of Lower Limbs
Multidisciplinary Care
In addition to NuWave Vascular Ultrasound, East Bentleigh Health Group is also home to a caring podiatrist. When we discover or suspect underlying conditions related to the feet or lower limbs that are not chiropractic in nature, we may refer you to our podiatrist and/or our vascular sonographer to conduct further testing to determine the specific condition and how best to treat it. This is especially true for patients with diabetes or other conditions that involve the vascular system.
Although these are separate business entities, we often collaborate on care to ensure our patients receive the best quality care possible for their unique situation.
